Laugh after laugh after laugh is on stage at the Art Center Theatre in its presentation of the hilarious comedy “Four Old Broads” by Leslie Kimbell.
The play is set at the Magnolia Place Senior Assisted Living community in Petula, Georgia, where four resident ladies try to plan their annual trip. Beatrice wants to go on a cruise instead of their usual outing to Helen, Georgia; however, her efforts are always blunted by the prayers interjected by Eaddy Mae begging that Bea be forgiven for her language, the comatose periods of Imogene and Maude’s insistence on watching her soap opera on TV.
Meanwhile, Pat Jones the administrator and Nurse Ruby Sue pop in and out to administer a suspicious drug to Imogene who in her waken state is falling for Sam, an Elvis tribute artist.
Suspense and laughter grow, as Imogene is threatened to be taken to “the dark side” for treatment and the others sneak around to discover what Pat is giving Imogene. It is a wonderful play that lifts your mood and you won’t want to miss it.
